Both cover and the letter have the cachet GEPRUFT 144 - censored on arrival, cover opened and resealed by the UK Censor with PC90 3533.

F/Lt Houston was serving with 35 Sqn RAF out of RAF Graveley in Kent when his Halifax bomber was shot down 29/30 May 1943 during a night time bombing raid to Germany, crash landing in Holland.
