WW2 Double Censored Registered Letter FPO 429 British Preparation for D-Day 1944 Cover
WW2 April 1944 registered letter inland use (no additional postage) Double censored with the cachets (FPHS A500) 7529 and (A600) 11458, with one mark under the registration label implying this was censored at Unit level prior to posting.
Cancelled Field Post Office 429 7 AP 44 - which proud allocates at this date to Scottish Command.
However, records now show this was returned to the Home Postal Depot in Jan 1944 and then re-issued to No3 Postal Depot, with the return address of APO England not coming into use until April 44, in preparation for the D-Day landing.
Used on the South Coast and then moving to France with the Allied Forces as part of the D-Day operations.
