Cancelled with the boxed cachet N.Z MILITARY POST OFFICE OC 28 1914 EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.
Used from the first NZ transports writer mentions they are anchored outside Albany with the Australian Expeditionary Force. Card is signed Allan Mitchel.
Trooper John Allan Mitchell from Shannon NZ joined the army in 1914 on the call for troops, and served 13.8.14 through to 25.6.16 seeing action in Egypt, the Balkans (Gallipoli and Mudros) before being discharged. He was awarded the British War Medal with 1914 - 15 - 16 stars and the Victory Medal.
