WW1 Printed parcel reply card illustrated 'Are We Downhearted' and sent to the Penarth Townsfolk Fund - has KGV 1/2d cancelled with the machine LONDON MAY 17 16 datestamp.
To reverse message to the Fund, signed N. H. Courtney the writer states....I often have thoughts of Penarth .... I am a long way from there at present, I cannot say where...
Headed with the address H.M.S. Topaze c/o GPO London.
The Battle Cruiser Topaze was at this time station at Brindisi and in the Adriatic.
