WW1 Postcard FPOa HMS Canada Surrender of the German Fleet 1918
WW1 'Tucks' postcard headed ON ACTIVE SERVICE and sent home to Scotland, addressed to Hospital Hill in Dunfermline.
Card is cancelled with the machine datestamp FPOa 26 NOV 18, applied at Scapa and datelined 'HMS Canada at sea Monday Nov 25th 1918'
The message home includes 'We are taking home the German Fleet, with the Canada leading the way'
(The German fleet surrendered on the 21st Nov 1918, 10 days after the armistice, at the Firth of Forth. The Canada was one of a number of RN ships which then escorted the fleet under surrender)
(The writer appears to be Victor Gerald Plumbly on the crew of HMS Canada, a RNVR electrician).
