WW1 Cover and Letter 1915 to Red Cross in France Double Charged Postage Due Returned


WW1 cover and the enclosed letter from D.M. Chambers & Co London, dated March 1915. Letter states 'I do not known when you are going to France... interested you are driving Ambulance etc'

Cover (with some edge faults) franked KGV 1d cancelled machine LONDON E.,C 8 MAR 15 and addressed to Headquarters British Red Cross Boulogne. Underpaid (the foreign letter rate was 2.1/2d) cachet 3d F.B.A applied in London and then converted to 30c in France and collected with dues cancelled BOULOGNE 9-3-15, to reverse BRC datestamps of 9th & 10th March. 

Annotated Returned to England 25/2/15 and redirected to Royal Automobile Club Pall Mall, French postage dues overstruck BASE ARMY POST OFFICE 3 at Boulogne, returned through the Army Postal Service.

Due collected on redelivery with GB dues. 

Condition as shown: some marking, edge faults and minor tear centre top.
