WW2 U.S patriotic card to Katonah N.Y annotated 'Free' cancelled U.S NAVY AUG 24 1943 datestamp and addressed from I-C-9 3rd Mar Div, c/o FPO SF Calif. 

Shows a circled PASSED BY NAVAL CENSOR cachet and the two line DAMAGED BY SEA WATER AT SAN PEDRO CALIF. 

At this time the 3rd Marine Div were training at Guadalcanal for the landing at Bougainville (to take place in November). There were lots of U.S Naval loses in this period and this cachet is known, but not allocated to a specific ship.
