The P&O Ship Devonha was relatively new at the outbreak of war where she was taken into Government service, initially as a Troopship. Initially transporting the 12th A.I.F. to Gallipoli and standing off ask a decoy for artillery. She was covered to a Hospital Ship with her P&O crew remaining and was the last hospital ship leaving the Dardanelles to Egypt.
