Postcard 6^th JY 1914 annotated from HMS Britannia, with 1/2d PC rate cancelled at Bantry (Southern Ireland). Three weeks before war declared, Britannia had just completed a refit. The 1/2d postcard rate has been correctly paid, but assume this was more than a postcard with an attachment, and then attracted a charge, with 1d due cachet.

The 1/2d deficiency and 1/2d surcharge collected READING JY 14. HMS Britannia was last naval casualty WW1, sunk by German submarine off Cape Trafalgar 9^th Nov 1918
